Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) facility via video conferencing. The state-of-the-art facility, located in the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park - SEZ at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, is a significant addition to India's aerospace maintenance capabilities.

Safran Facility: A First For Indian Aviation MRO

The Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) facility is Safran’s dedicated Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre for its LEAP engines. Scale And Capacity Of New SAESI Facility

- The state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre spans 45,000 square metres and has been developed with an initial investment of approximately Rs 13,000 crore, the report added. It is slated to be fully operational by 2035.

- The facility has been engineered to service up to 300 LEAP engines per year, positioning it as one of the largest such centres globally.

- The plant features advanced process equipment intended to provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul solutions for the engines.

- Once operational, the SAESI is expected to employ over 1,000 highly skilled Indian engineers and technicians.

SAESI Expected To Boost Aatamanirbhar Bharat In Aviation

The world-class centre is set to play a significant role in boosting the Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) initiative within the aviation sector.
