Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will begin on Tuesday. This will be his first visit after taking oath as prime minister of the country for the third consecutive term. PM Modi formed a government with the support of the NDA alliance, as the BJP secured only 240 seats in this Lok Sabha election, falling short of the majority mark.
PM Modi In UP: What Is On Agenda
- On Tuesday, he will participate in the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, at around 5 PM. During this event, PM Modi will present certificates to over 30,000 women from self-help groups (SHGs) known as Krishi Sakhis. These women support agricultural activities in rural areas.
- As a demonstration of his government's commitment to farmers, PM Modi, after being sworn in as PM for the third term, authorised the release of the 17th instalment of the PM Kisan Nidhi.
- He will release more than Rs 20,000 crore to about 9.26 crore farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) through Direct Benefit Transfer. So far, over 11 crore eligible farmer families have received more than Rs 3.04 lakh crore through this scheme.
- The Krishi Sakhi Convergence Program (KSCP) empowers rural women by training and certifying them as Krishi Sakhis, who act as para-extension workers in agriculture. This initiative also supports the "Lakhpati Didi" program aimed at improving the incomes of rural women.
- Later in the evening, at around 7 pm, PM Modi will attend the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat and, at around 8 pm, visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple for puja and darshan.
PM Modi In Bihar: What Is On Agenda
- In Bihar, the Prime Minister will visit the Ruins of Nalanda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016, at around 9.45 AM on Wednesday.
- At around 10.30 AM, he will inaugurate the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir. This university is a collaborative effort between India and East Asia Summit (EAS) countries. The ceremony will be attended by several distinguished guests, including heads of missions from 17 countries.
- The new campus includes two academic blocks with 40 classrooms, two auditoriums, a student hostel, an international center, an amphitheatre, a faculty club, and a sports complex.
- It is a 'Net Zero' Green Campus, featuring solar power plants, water treatment facilities, a water recycling plant, and 100 acres of water bodies, among other eco-friendly features. The original Nalanda University, founded around 1600 years ago, is one of the world's first residential universities.
