It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination, and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation."

PM Modi's visit to the base comes after days of intense aerial and ground exchanges between India and Pakistan following Indian strikes on terror sites in the neighbouring country's Punjab and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7 under Operarion Sindoor.
On April 22, terrorists associated with The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), opened indiscriminate firing on tourists in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley.
The heinous incident caused 26 casualties, including a Nepali citizens. The terrorists killed the civilians based on their religious identities. The government and the investigating agencoies claimed that the intention behind this was to stir communal tensions in the country.
On May 10, India and Pakistan agreed to stop military actions. But, India has also made it clear that it has merely paused its operation and its actions will be guided by Pakistan's conduct.
However, Pakistan had also claimed that it successfully targeted BrahMos missiles stored at the Adampur Air Base. Later, the claim was busted by India as false and misleading.
