Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday, June 9, marking a historic moment in Indian politics. Despite BJP not securing the majority mark, NDA partners JDU and TDP played a pivotal role in staking claim to form the government. Along with Modi, several big names including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, S Jaishankar, JP Nadda, HD Kumaraswamy and others took oath as the council of ministers.

Modi, born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, Gujarat, is the first Prime Minister born after independence and the only leader to lead a non-Congress government with a majority for 10 consecutive years.

Born to Damodardas Mulchand Modi and Hiraben Modi, Narendra Modi received his schooling in Vadnagar. Modi's journey from a tea seller at Vadnagar railway station to becoming the 14th Prime Minister of India is remarkable. Modi received his Bachelor's (BA) degree in Political Science from the School of Open Learning of Delhi University in 1978 and his MA degree in Political Science from Gujarat University in 1983.

PM Modi And His Record In Politics

In 1972, Modi joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and entered mainstream politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1987. He took his first step as Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, after the resignation of Keshubhai Patel, a position he held until 2014. Since the formation of Gujarat as a state in 1960, Modi has been the only CM to take the oath of office for four consecutive terms.

Since then, Modi has served as Prime Minister, first assuming office on May 26, 2014, and then again on May 30, 2019. Now, with his third term, Modi aims to lead India towards development, setting the goal of a developed India by 2047.

Modi's achievement of being elected for the third consecutive term parallels leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, who served as PM three times in a row from 1952 to 1962, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who held the position thrice, although completing his term only once.

Now, he is again back in office for his third consecutive term after serving as Prime Minister for 10 years continuously. Modi has held top administrative positions like Chief Minister and Prime Minister continuously for nearly 23 years.
