CM Siddaramaiah Sets One-Month Deadline To Repair Bengaluru Roads
Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah set a deadline of one month for the officers of the civic agency to repair all the roads in the city. The chief minister warned that the chief engineers would be held accountable if the deadline was not met.
Siddaramaiah spoke to media persons after meeting his deputy, Shivakumar, and the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) officials on Saturday. The chief minister also said he had allocated Rs 750 crore to repair the roads. About 6,000 potholes have been filled, while 8,000 more are yet to be fixed. "I will hold two meetings in the next one month. I will take strict action if any shortcoming is found," he said.
Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy slammed the Congress government in Karnataka for the Bengaluru infrastructure woes. He said it is "tragic" that the city is now gaining infamy as the "city of potholes". Claiming that industries are losing faith in Karnataka and migrating to neighbouring states, the former chief minister urged them not to leave the city.
