The Minister Of External Affairs (MEA) is processing a letter by the Karnataka Government, which sought the cancellation of Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard. Notably, Hassan MP is facing charges of sexual assault as over 3,000 obscene videos of him were fervidly circulated across Karnataka amid Lok Sabha polls.

“I have written to Hon'ble PM Shri@narendramodirequesting the cancellation of the diplomatic passport of the accused, Mr. Prajwal Revanna. Prompt and concerted actions are needed to secure his return to India for facing the law,” Siddaramaiah posted on X.

Sources, cited by News 18, said the MEA was processing the letter written by the Karnataka government after the warrant was issued against Revenna.

33-year-old Prajwal Revanna is the grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. He is the NDA’s candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha segment. As per reports, Prajwal left for Germany on April 27 and is still at large.

The authorities have long been waiting for Prajwal’s return to probe the incident further. Even Prajwal’s uncle and former Karnataka Chief Minister, HD Kumaraswamy, urged his nephew to return to India for the sake of the party and his grandfather’s reputation. If the MEA complies with the request and Prajwal’s passport gets cancelled, he will have to return to the country.

Following a request from the Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed by the Karnataka government to probe serial sex abuse allegations, a special court for elected representatives on Saturday issued an arrest warrant against Prajwal Revanna.
