BJP on Tuesday named Prem Chand Bairwa as the new deputy chief minister of Rajasthan, along with Vidyadhar Nagar MLA Diya Kumari. After Madhya Pradesh, the party implemented the formula of two Deputy CMs in Rajasthan also. Bairwa and Kumari will work with new Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma as BJP is set to form government Rajasthan.

Premchand Bairwa, BJP MLA from Dudu, won the Rajasthan Assembly election by a margin of 35,743 votes. BJP observer to Rajasthan, Rajnath Singh announced Bairwa's name for the post of deputy chief minister of Rajasthan in Jaipur on December 12.

Prem Chand Bairwa: Political Career

Prem Chand Bairwa began his political career with BJP's student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). In 1995, he worked in Dudu block organisation and later served as Zilla Parishad member from Ward 15 of Dudu in 2000. Bairwa also worked as district president of BJP's SC Morcha in Jaipur and general secretary of mandal.

In 2013, when Dudu Assembly became reserved for SC category, Bairwa defeated Congress candidate Hazari Lal Nagar by a margin of 33,720 votes. However, he lost to Congress' Babu Lal Nagar from Dudu constituency in 2018, by a margin of 14,779 votes.

Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023

BJP won the Rajasthan Assembly election 2023 with a clear majority ousting Congress from power. The saffron party secured 115 out of the total 199 seats in the state while Congress, led by Ashok Gehlot, was reduced to 69 seats in the polls held on November 25 this year.
