President Droupadi Murmu on Friday presented the Distinguished Service Awards at the Defence Investiture Ceremony-2024 (Phase-2) held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. According to a statement by the Defence Ministry, President Murmu conferred the 94 distinguished service decorations to the personnel of the armed forces and the Indian Coast Guard. Army Chief General Dwivedi and Navy Chief Admiral Tripathi were on Friday conferred the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM).
Along with other retired Army and Indian Air Force officers, Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar, Lt Gen N S Raja Subramani, Lt Gen Johnson P Mathew, and Air Marshal Ravi Gopal Krishna Kapoor were among the other officers who were also awarded the PVSM.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the Rashtrapati Bhavan shared photographs of the event. It wrote, “The President Droupadi Murmu presented Param Vishisht Seva Medal to: Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi - General Upendra Dwivedi, The Infantry - Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, The Infantry - Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani, The Infantry.”
The Defence Ministry in a statement shared the list of persons who have received the decorations. “Lt Gen Viresh Pratap Singh Kaushik of the Kumaon Regiment, Lt Gen Rashim Bali of the Sikh Light Infantry, Lt Gen Manish Mohan Erry Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry and Lt Gen Harjeet Singh Sahi, the Rajput Regiment were conferred the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UVSM),” the ministry said.
The first segment of the ceremony took place on July 5 when President Murmuconferred 10 Kirti Chakras, including seven posthumously, to personnel of the army and paramilitary forces for displaying indomitable courage and extraordinary bravery in the line of duty.
