Pilots’ association of India on Saturday registered its objection against the initial report of AAIB into Ahmedabad plane crash, saying that investigation is being done presuming that pilots were at the fault.
The association questioed the efficiency of investigators, saying that “suitably qualified personnel are not taken on board" for the probe as it expressed shock of ‘secrecy’ behind the investigation.
Wall Street Journal Angel
The association pointed to an article published in Wall Street Journal, which claimed that whole investigation revolved around the movement of fuel control switches. In AAIB, the switches are designated as cause of crash.
“We would like to crucially highlight the fact that the Wall Street Journal published an article on the 10th of July referring to the inadvertent movement of the fuel control switches. How did this information reach them? There is reference to a bulletin on the serviceability of the fuel control switch gates indicating that there could be a potential malfunction," the Association’s statement said.
“We feel that the investigation is being driven in a direction presuming the guilt of pilots and we strongly object to this line of thought," the statement added.

The association objected the report that suggests that accident took place due to the movement of fuel cut-off swithces midair leadin to both the engines getting shut.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) made its preliminary report public on late Friday elaborating that bothe the engines of Boeing 787-8 were shut down seconds after take off due to sudden transition of their cut-off service.
The AAIB report also mentioned that last moment conversation between pilots in cockpit, where one is heard asking to another, ‘why did you cut off’ to which the other pilot replies that no such action was taken.
Pilot Association Demand Transparency
The association demanding transparency into the investigation said, “We are surprised that a document so crucial has been given to the media without any responsible person signing it. In the wake of the aforementioned points, we once again request the powers that be to include us even in the capacity of observers so as to provide the requisite transparency in the investigations.”
