The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday stated that the extradition of Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, falls under the legal domain and will proceed according to established procedures. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiwasl informed reporters in Delhi that the investigation in the Anmol Bishnoi extradition case was ongoing.

"You spoke about Anmol Bishnoi. Investigation is underway. Probe is in progress. These matters come under the legal domain. And, since these things come under legal domain, so under established procedures, action will be taken on this issue," Jaiswal said. He was asked whether the US government has shared any details on Anmol Bishnoi on extradition.

Earlier, US authorities reportedly alerted Mumbai Police about the presence of Anmol in their country. The Mumbai Police began the process of extradition as the Crime Branch approached a special court last month. The Mumbai Police on October 16 submitted before the court that they sought the extradition of Anmol Bishnoi, the Indian Express reported, citing official sources. 

Anmol Bishnoi faces over 17 criminal cases in India and has been named in some of the high-profile cases like the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique, Punjabi singer Sidhu Mossewala, and firing outside the residence of actor Salman Khan, along with his brother Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar. Earlier, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) added Anmol Bishnoi’s name to its most-wanted list. The NIA also announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for the information leading to his arrest.

He is also accused of operating the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang through social media platforms like Snapchat and Instagram from the US and Canada. He was even charged for allegedly providing the weapons used in several killings. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang operates in most of the northern states in India and is accused of murders, threats, and extortions. Earlier, the Canadian government accused the Bishnoi gang of killing Sikh separatists on its soil with the cooperation of Indian officials.
