Congress leader Salman Khurshid, while speaking in Indonesia, praised the Modi government by stating that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed remarkable development since the abrogation of Article 370. While addressing an Indonesian think tank and academia on Thursday, Khurshid described Article 370 as a “major problem", adding that its abrogation helped the region and currently there is a government there. Khurshid joined the league of Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari, who have lately given multiple remarks allegedly different from the party line. The Congress leader is a part of the all-party delegation sent to multiple nations to expose Pakistan over terrorism.

“Kashmir had a major problem for a long time. Much of that was reflected in the thinking of the government in an article called 370 of the Constitution, which somehow gave the impression that it was separate from the rest of the country. But Article 370 was abrogated, and it was finally put to an end," Khurshid was quoted as saying by ANI.

“Subsequently, there was an election with 65 per cent participation in the election. There’s an elected government in Kashmir today, and therefore, for people to want to undo everything that has happened, the prosperity that has come to Kashmir," the Congress leader added.

Earlier on Wednesday, another Congress leader, Shashi Tharoor, stated that India breached the LoC for the first time in 2016 to avenge Pakistan, drawing major criticism from other Congress leaders who claimed that Tharoor had demeaned the efforts of the Congress government.

However, Tharoor clarified that he had given the remarks in context with the recent incidents, adding that his remarks were twisted to use against him. Apart from this, Congress MP Manish Tewari had stated that the US had no involvement in the ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan.
