Pune News: The Pune Police have registered a case against Dilip Khedkar, father of former probationary Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Puja Khedkar. The charges against Dilip Khedkar include threatening and obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their duties. The First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the Bundgarden Police Station under sections 186, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complaint was lodged by a tehsildar-rank officer from the Pune district collectorate.
According to the complaint, during Puja Khedkar’s posting as an assistant collector, her father, Dilip Khedkar, allegedly used threatening language against the tehsildar, Dipak Akade. Dilip Khedkar reportedly demanded that a cabin be allotted to his daughter, who was undergoing her probationary training as an IAS officer in June 2024, to provide her with a specific cabin and other facilities, despite having no right to interfere in the administrative functioning.

This incident has led to further complications for the Khedkar family. Following a report sent by Pune Collector Suhad Diwase to the Maharashtra Government about the “alleged objectionable behaviour” of Puja and her father, Puja was subsequently transferred to Washim as a supernumerary assistant collector, according to Indian Express report.
Dilip Khedkar himself has been embroiled in a separate legal case. He was named as an accused, along with his wife, Manorama Khedkar, in an FIR lodged at the Paud Police Station. The charges in this case involve allegedly threatening farmers at the Dhadawali village under the Mulshi tehsil on June 5, 2023. Manorama was arrested in this case and later granted bail by the court, while Dilip Khedkar was granted anticipatory bail.

Adding to the legal woes, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has also filed an FIR against Puja Khedkar. The UPSC alleges that Puja "faked her identity to fraudulently avail attempts beyond the permissible limit" in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2022. Consequently, the UPSC has cancelled Puja's candidature and barred her from appearing in any future exams conducted by the commission.
