Pune Bhide Bridge: To ease traffic congestion during the busy Diwali shopping season, Pune’s traffic department has decided to reopen the Bhide Bridge for vehicles starting October 11. The decision comes in response to the growing number of shoppers flooding the central parts of the city, leading to increased pressure on alternative routes.

The bridge, which had been shut since April 21 due to ongoing Metro construction work, was initially expected to reopen within 45 days. However, the deadline was repeatedly extended first to mid-June, then to August 15 yet the work remains unfinished.

With festive crowds now intensifying in areas like Deccan, Laxmi Road, and other central localities, authorities have deemed it necessary to temporarily allow traffic on the bridge to relieve the mounting congestion.
