Pune Dog Hanging:In a heart-wrenching incident, a woman and her son brutally killed a dog by hanging it from a tree. The incident took place in Maharashtra's Pune and a case has also been filed against the duo.
The incident happened in Pirangut area of Mulshi tehsil and the mother has been identified as Prabhavati Jagtap, while her son has been identified as Omkar Jagtap.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray also raised the issue on social media after an animal activist Padmini Stump, who runs Mission Possible Foundation, contacted the police and filed a case against the mother and son. Notably, Mission Possible Foundation runs a shelter home for dogs.
"I just came across a very very heartbreaking image of a dog being hung to death by its owner family, in Pune. I am shocked beyond words to see how humans can behave this way. Beyond elections and the other stress of duty, I am appealing to @PuneCityPolice to take strict action on those guilty for this. It’s inhumane. Pets are family too," wrote Aditya Thackeray on X.

According to Santosh Girigosavi, senior inspector of Paud Road police station, Prabhavati allegedly brutally beat her pet Labrador. After this, her son Omkar hung the dog from a tree. A case has been registered against both of them under the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
"On October 22, Prabhavati allegedly assaulted their pet Labrador with a stick. Later, her son Omkar hanged the canine from a tree. We have booked them under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act," Paud Road police station senior inspector Santosh Girigosavi said.
"Before killing the canine, the family had called up one dog lover from Pimpri and asked her to come and take the dog away. But later, they sent a picture of the dog hanging from a tree. We rushed there and registered an offence against them," Stump told PTI.
