The Pune Porsche accident, which claimed the lives of two IT professionals, has created a massive uproar across the nation. A 17-year-old youth, who is the son of a Pune-based real estate developer, Vishal Agarwal, on Tuesday, rammed his high-end Porsche Taycan into a motorcycle near the Kalyani Nagar area of the city, leading to the immediate deaths of the aforementioned duo. The furore escalated after the accused was released by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) on conditions like doing social service and writing an essay on the accident.

The bail condition sparked widespread outrage, with grieving families calling for severe punishment for the accused.

Updates:

- The crime branch on Thursday questioned the accused’s grandfather Surendra Kumar, who stood surety for the teenager’s bail and assured the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) that his grandson would correct his demeanor

- The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued a notice to Vishal Agarwal, who is the father of the accused, after it discovered that the high-end car involved in the accident was not registered

- Surendra Kumar, grandfather of the accused, was reportedly involved in a shootout case in Pune. The case was registered at Bund Garden police station and was later transferred to the CBI. The federal probe agency chargesheeted the accused’s grandfather and it was discovered that the latter had allegedly  contacted underworld don Chhota Rajan in 2009 to execute a corporator

- In FIR, the police said Vishal Agarwal allowed his son to drive the car despite knowing that the latter did not possess a licence. He was even aware that his son regularly consumed liquor

- Sonali Tanpure, wife of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA and former minister Prajakt P. Tanpure, claimed the accused and his friends used to torture her son while he was in school. She said her family had to change her son’s school due to the trouble created by these children  

- The Juvenile Justice Board initially granted bail to the accused within 15 hours of the accident. However, it later cancelled the bail decision and was sent to an observation home

- The Juvenile Justice Board will decide in 90 days if the teenager should be tried as an adult, the lawyer representing the accused said

- The parents of the victims, who are based in Madhya Pradesh, have demanded strict punishment for both the accused boy and his parents, holding them responsible for the deaths of their children

- The accused’s father was on Wednesday arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He was later brought to Pune

- Police told the court that the builder told the driver to let his teen son drive the Porsche
