In a shocking incident, two sons allegedly assaulted their elderly parents with wooden sticks on a public road in Pune district over the sale of land belonging to their mother. The incident took place on August 30, leaving both parents with multiple injuries.

The victims have been identified as 65-year-old farmer Tukaram Kisan Raut and his ailing wife, Anjana Raut. According to the police, the couple was out for a walk in their village around 6 pm when their sons, Sanjay Raut and Rajendra Raut, allegedly followed them in a car.

The brothers allegedly abused their parents and threatened to kill them if they did not cancel the sale of the land, reported the Indian Express.

According to the FIR registered at the Indapur police station based on Tukaram’s complaint, the father said, “They started asking Tukaram, ‘Why did you sell the land?'" The brothers then allegedly assaulted Tukaram and Anjana with wooden sticks.

Tukaram sustained injuries to his back, face, thighs and left shoulder, while Anjana was allegedly struck on her right wrist and waist."

During the assault, the brothers allegedly demanded that their parents take back possession of the land. According to the complaint, one of the sons threatened, “Take back the land you have sold, otherwise we will show you what we are capable of,” the FIR stated.

The incident was captured on camera and has since gone viral on social media. Several passersby gathered at the spot and alerted the police.

After the police arrived at the scene, Tukaram and Anjana were taken to the Indapur sub-district hospital for treatment. Tukaram later told the police that his two sons live separately with their families in Malwadi.

Based on the complaint, the police have booked Sanjay and Rajendra for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons, intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace, and criminal intimidation.
