Punjab: CM Bhagwant Mann Announces Film City, 100-Acre ‘Celebration Point’ In Amritsar To Promote Tourism

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday unveiled a new project to promote Amritsar as a wedding destination and a tourist hub. He announced a 100-acre ‘Celebration Point’ in the city, which will have marriage palaces, banquet halls, hotels and other facilities to suit every budget. He invited tourists to visit Punjab and enjoy the hospitality and warmth of the state.

CM Mann was speaking at the first Punjab Tourism Summit that began at Amity University in Mohali on Monday. The three-day summit is aimed at showcasing the state’s tourism potential in various sectors such as religious tourism, eco-tourism, wellness tourism, heritage circuits and farm tourism.

“In Amritsar, we are coming up with a new project, ‘Celebration Point’, which will be spread over 100 acres of land. There will be marriage palaces and banquet halls to suit every pocket. The tariff will start from Rs 25,000 and will go up to Rs 10 lakh. There will be three-star and four-star hotels. In a single place, people will get everything. People can come there to celebrate any happy occasion. Those who want their children to get married and seek blessings from Golden Temple the same day, will be able to do so,” the chief minister said while speaking at the Punjab Tourism Summit.

Bhagwant Mann said Punjab has a lot to offer geographically, culturally and historically, as it is home to many sacred sites, martyrs’ villages, dams and water bodies and untouched tourist destinations. He also said the state is working on enhancing its eco-tourism and urged the tourists and the hospitality industry to visit Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar and some other places that have dams and water bodies and are ideal for ecotourism.

He assured the investors and the hospitality industry of full government support and said that nobody would harass them. He also wooed filmmakers to set up a Film City in Punjab and sought the help of actor and TV show host Kapil Sharma to promote it. Sharma expressed his surprise and admiration for the state’s tourist attractions while assuring his support for the state government’s cause.
