No Work In Punjab and Haryana High Court: Amid the escalating tension between India and Pakistan, ‘No Work Day’ will be observed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday, due to security threat. The Bar Association of the High Court has taken the decision in the wake of ongoing tension in border areas and a blackout in Chandigarh.

In an official notice issued by the secretary of the association late on Thursday night, bar members were informed that the decision to observe ‘NO Work Day’ has been taken, keeping in mind the sensitivity of the situation and the potential threat posed by separatist forces.

The notice stated that the High Court bar association has decided to suspend all work on Friday, May 9, prioritising safety and maintaining law and order. This unanimous decision aims to prevent any untoward incidents and protect the interests of its members.

The ties between India and Pakistan have worsened since the Pahalgam terror attack, which took place on April 22, killing as many as 26 people, including 25 Indians and one foreigner. India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7, targeting nine terror hideouts to avenge the killing in a deadly attack in Baisarna Valley of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

The joint operation, carried out by the Indian Army and Air Force, targeted the strongholds of two of Pakistan’s most notorious terror groups: Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

In the latest development, the tension escalated on the Line of Control (LoC) and International Borders (IB) after the Indian Army successfully thwarted a massive swarm drone attack launched by Pakistan. More than 50 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were intercepted and neutralised during a large-scale counter-drone operation conducted by Indian Army Air Defence units in the areas of Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot.
