How The Sensational Murder Case Comes To Light?

On Wednesday, the Ludhiana Police, said the crime took place in July this year. An FIR over her disappearance was filed in the Ludhiana Police. That time no one had any idea that this was a murder case. It came to light recently, after the Ludhiana Police named suspects in the FIR. The case took a shocking turn when police found that It was Grewal who allegedly got her killed.

The victim's sister, Kamal Kaur Khairah, grew suspicious when she found her mobile phone switched off on July 24. Sensing something fishy, she, on July 28, had alerted the US embassy in New Delhi. The embassy pressed the local police to take up the matter. It was only last week that the Khairah family received the news of her death.

What Was The Motive Behind The Gruesome Murder?

The police said they arrested the murderer, Sukhjeet Singh Sonu of Malha Patti, who revealed the involvement of Grewal. Sonu confessed to his crime and said he killed Pandher in his house and burnt the body in a storeroom. He said he committed the crime as he was promised to get Rs 50 lakh for killing Pandher. The motive, officers said, was financial -- Pandher had transferred a significant amount of money to Grewal prior to her visit.

Deputy Inspector General (Ludhiana Police Range) Satinder Singh confirmed that Grewal, who is absconding, has been named as a suspect in the case. Police said efforts are on to find the victim's skeletal remains and other evidence based on Sonu's disclosure.
