The Punjab Police arrested a man on Tuesday for allegedly disclosing sensitive information about Indian Army movements during Operation Sindoor with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The man, identified as Gagandeep Singh, is a resident of Tarn Taran. He was also in contact with Pakistan-based pro-Khalistan leader Gopal Singh Chawla, Punjab director general of police Gaurav Yadav informed. Efforts to crack down on espionage activities across the country are underway.

The Punjab Police recovered a mobile phone containing intelligence that the man shared with the PIOs, as well as the details of over 20 ISI contacts.

“Acting swiftly on information received from Counter-Intelligence-Punjab, @TarnTaranPolice, in a joint operation arrests Gagandeep Singh @ Gagan, a resident of Mohalla Rodupur, Gali Nazar Singh Wali, #TarnTaran. Arrested accused had been in contact with the #Pakistan #ISI and Gopal Singh Chawla, sharing sensitive information concerning army movements during #OperationSindhoor. Investigations have revealed that he was engaged in sharing classified details, including troop deployments and strategic locations, posing a threat to national security,” the Punjab DGP posted on X.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that Gagandeep Singh had been in touch with Pakistan-based Khalistani supporter Gopal Singh Chawla for the past five years, through whom he was introduced to the Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs). He also received payments from #PIOs via #Indianchannels. Recovered a mobile phone containing intelligence that he shared with the PIOs, as well as the details of over 20 ISI contacts. Thorough financial and technical investigations are underway to trace other linkages and establish the full scope of this espionage network. An FIR has been registered under the Official Secrets Act at PS City, Tarn Taran, and further investigation is in progress,” the post added.punjabdgp

Rajasthan Police on Friday detained a government employee, Shakur Khan, in Jaisalmer on allegations of espionage. According to Jaisalmer Superintendent of Police Sudhir Chaudhary, Khan is currently under interrogation in connection with the case.

Speaking to ANI, SP Chaudhary confirmed, “We have detained government employee Shakur Khan, and questioning is underway to gather further details.”

Earlier, the police had appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity or individuals. As part of this effort, several people have already been detained, with action being taken against those suspected of passing sensitive information across the border.

“We had asked the public to inform us about any suspicious individuals. Multiple people have been questioned so far, and strict action has been taken against those found involved in sharing classified information beyond the border,” SP Chaudhary added.
