The Punjab Police has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra for allegedly sharing an ‘edited’ video of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi, accusing her of disrespecting Sikh Gurus. The FIR was lodged in Jalandhar following a formal complaint by Iqbal Singh.
According to Jalandhar police officials, the FIR was registered after Sh. Iqbal Singh filed a complaint about the circulation of a doctored video. The video in question reportedly featured Atishi, who is also the Leader of Opposition (LOP) in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, making allegedly derogatory remarks about the Sikh Gurus, accompanied by provocative captions.

A police statement explained that the video, which was found circulating on various social media platforms, contained inflammatory content, and investigations were carried out scientifically. The video, which included audio from Atishi, was reportedly downloaded from Kapil Mishra's social media accounts and forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory in SAS Nagar, Punjab, for examination.
This action follows a forensic investigation that confirmed the video shared by Mishra had been manipulated. Mishra, who had posted the controversial video on X (formerly Twitter), had previously accused Atishi of insulting Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Despite the FIR being registered against him, Mishra remains defiant. The Delhi minister accused Atishi of committing a sin. However, he added that Kejriwal is committing a greater sin by trying to shield her. "There is a video in the records of the Delhi Assembly, and the whole world has seen it. Since that day, Atishi has not had the courage to come to the Assembly, even though the Speaker has called her several times," he said.

Meanwhile, Atishi, in a post on X, responded to the BJP's accusations. She accused the party of tweeting an edited video with false claims. "Lie No. 1: This video was shared after the discussion marking 350 years of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom had concluded, when the discussion on the Lieutenant Governor's address began. Lie No. 2: In the video, I was discussing the BJP's avoidance of a debate on pollution and their protest over the issue of stray dogs," she wrote. She added that the BJP had inserted false subtitles, misattributing her words to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

Atishi strongly condemned the BJP for using the name of the Guru in a political row and accused the party of harbouring hatred towards Sikhs. "I come from a family where, for generations, the eldest son has adopted Sikhism to protect society. I can give my life, but I cannot insult the Guru Sahib," she posted on X.
