Punjab Road Accident: Eight passengers died and 32 others got severely injured in Punjab's Hoshiarpur after a bus overturned after losing control in the early hours of Monday. The bus carrying almost 50 passengers overturned near Dasuha Hajipur Road, leading to panic among the passengers and the locals, reported Jagran.Com. The injured passengers have been admitted to a local hospital where they are being treated. While the exact reason behind the accident is not known yet, the bus reportedly overturned due to overspeeding.
While providing details, Mukerian Deputy Superintendent of Police Kulwinder Singh Virk stated that the bus was going from Hajipur to Dasuya when the driver lost control due to the speed. He further stated that the injured passengers have been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Dasuya, adding that the condition of several passengers remains critical. While the exact reason behind the accident is not known, the eyewitnesses stated that the bus was travelling at a very high speed.

In a separate news, four people died after a car fell into a deep gorge near Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district on Sunday. The incident occurred near Rahninala when the car, carrying five passengers, slipped off a rain-soaked road and plunged down the hillside.
The Manali Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) KD Sharma stated that the accident took place amid ongoing heavy rainfall in the region. Rescue teams were quickly dispatched and efforts to recover the bodies and assist the injured are still underway. The identities of the victims are yet to be confirmed.

While reacting to the incident, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu stated that the administration will provide assistance to the families. “May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to their families. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the chief minister stated in a post on X.
