A tunnel, estimated to be 20 to 30 meters long, has been found at Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri. The tunnel is visible from Shrikshetra Panch Teerth to Indradyumna Temple. The discovery has aroused the curiosity of the local people, who have demanded more research from the government and temple administration.

The tunnel was revealed after the water of Pushkarini, a pond that was undergoing revival work, dried up. It resembles a drain and some people have tried to measure its length by putting a bus inside it. They claim that it could be longer than what it appears.

Some locals suggested that the tunnel would have been connected to the Musa River, which was used to remove water from various ponds in Jagannath Dham. Pandit Harishankar Mishra, a local scholar, supports this theory. He said the tunnel was used for water irrigation in the nearby lands.

This is not the first time that a tunnel has been found in Puri. Earlier, a tunnel was also found in Ganga Mata Math, a monastery in the city. Many people have requested the government to investigate the origin and purpose of these tunnels, which have sparked various discussions in the city.
