The 51-year-old father asked her to shut the academy to which she refused which led to bitterness between them, Assistant Commissioner of police Yashwant Yadav said.

"He wanted her to shut down the academy, but she refused. He finally shot her dead over the same dispute,” he said. Deepak was unhappy with her daughter over the academy because people used to taunt him for living on her daughter's income. Deepak reportedly had an income of Rs 17 lakh per month from various sources. He wanted her daughter to shut the academy as he didn't have any financial stress, and Radhika could have lived her life happily with what he earned.

News agency PTI quoted sources saying Deepak confessed to killing her daughter as he was taunted for living on her daughter's income. In an official statement, the police claimed that the tennis academy Radhika ran was the bone of contention between the father and the daughter. "Radhika used to run a tennis academy, and her father was not happy with it," Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Singh said. Every other reason apart from the tennis academy is a rumour, and no such thing has come forward during the investigation, the police said.
