Punjab Draft Roll: A fresh row has escalated between the BJP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Punjab. In a post on X, Chadha alleged that AAP, his former party, has deliberately classified his name as "shifted" in the draft rolls. However, the ruling party in Punjab has accused Chadha of attempting to get his voter registration made in Delhi through a "backdated process".
Raghav Chadha Alleges Vendetta
Earlier in his post, Chadha alleged that his name was classified in the shifted category despite him being currently a Rajya Sabha member from Punjab, further accusing the AAP government of doing the politics of revenge. "The AAP government in Punjab has now taken its politics of revenge to the Draft Electoral Rolls. I am a sitting Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, with my voter ID registered in Mohali, Punjab. Yet my name has been classified as "shifted" in the draft electoral rolls," Chadha said.

No Role In SIR: AAP
While responding to his post, AAP asserted that the revision process is conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI), adding that the state government has no role. Apart from this, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party also alleged that Chadha himself intended to shift his name to Delhi, that too through a "backdated process".

Earlier, Chadha, along with six other Rajya Sabha MPs, exited AAP to join the BJP. While Chadha accused the AAP of compromising with its principles, the party alleged that Chadha switched to the saffron party for convenience. The assembly election in Punjab is expected to be conducted in the early months of 2027.
