Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, sent a shoe-stitching machine to a cobbler he met in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur on Saturday. The gesture followed Rahul Gandhi's visit to cobbler Ram Chait’s workshop the previous day, where he learned about the cobbler's work.

The official X handle of the Congress party shared the pictures of the shoe-stitching machine, which Rahul Gandhi sent for the cobbler to ease his work. "Yesterday, our leader Rahul Gandhi met cobbler Ram Chait in Sultanpur (UP) and learned about the details of his work. To support him, Rahul Gandhi has sent a shoe-stitching machine, which will ease his work," Congress wrote on X.

Ram Chait received a phone call in the morning notifying him about the gift from Rahul Gandhi. Some members of Gandhi's team delivered the machine to the cobbler's workshop on Saturday evening and the team also briefed Chait on how to operate the machine.

Ram Chait has been making footwear for over 40 years from his makeshift shop. Overjoyed with Rahul Gandhi’s gesture of gifting him a shoe-stitching machine, Ram Chait reportedly sent two pairs of shoes to Gandhi as a gesture of thanks.

Rahul Gandhi's engagement with the cobbler occurred during his visit to Sultanpur for a defamation case hearing. The Congress MP took the opportunity to interact with Chait and understand his craft, earning praise from netizens for his thoughtful gesture.
