At least four members of a family were killed and a child was injured after a Thar jeep rammed into their motorcycle in Rajasthan’s Alwar, police said on Sunday. The accident occurred near Chhadhi Meel Colony on Saturday night when a 33-year-old man, his wife, son, and two nieces were returning home after attending a relative’s wedding in the Shalimar Colony area. The Thar driver allegedly hit their motorcycle from behind and fled the spot.
According to the HT report, after receiving information, police reached the spot and rushed all the victims to Rajiv Gandhi District Hospital, where doctors declared four of them dead on arrival. A young girl is currently undergoing treatment in Jaipur.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Banshilal said the victims were identified as Mahendra (35), his wife Guddi (35), their son Purvansh (2), and nieces Payal (8) and Khushboo (4). The family was returning to Nangal Kheda village from Shalimar after attending the wedding of Mahendra’s cousin’s son.
Police said the speeding Thar jeep rammed into the motorcycle from behind with tremendous impact. The collision was so intense that Mahendra’s body was found nearly 200 metres away, while Guddi was discovered injured about 100 metres from the spot. The children’s bodies were scattered within a 100-metre radius, and one of the girls, Khushboo, was found injured on the roof of the Thar, almost 500 metres from the crash site.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Bansi Lal of Alwar’s Sadar police station said the SUV driver fled the scene after the crash, abandoning the Thar, which has since been seized. Police stated that the bodies would be handed over to the family after post-mortem examinations on Sunday. “Legal action will follow once we receive a formal complaint from the deceased’s relatives,” an officer said.
CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to trace the absconding driver. ASI Banshilal said a case has been registered, and further action will be initiated after recording the statements of the victims’ family members.
