Bengaluru News: In a heart-wrenching incident, two young brothers drowned in a lake maintained by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in Sir M Vishweshwaraiah Layout on Thursday evening. The victims, identified as Jaganadhan S (8) and Sanjay S (6), were students of a private school in Ullala Upanagar.

According to police, the brothers are believed to have gone to play near the lake after skipping their evening tuition class. The drowning is suspected to have occurred between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM, though the incident came to light only around 9:00 PM, as reported by a Times of India report.

Their father, Subramani, a mason, had dropped the children off at school in the morning, while their mother, Mamatha, who works as a helper in a private firm, returned home from work at about 8:15 PM. When she found her sons missing, she contacted her husband. On returning home, Subramani learnt from the tuition teacher that the boys had not been attending classes for the past four days.

Worried, the parents began searching the neighbourhood. During the search, one of Jaganadhan’s friends told them that he had gone to play with the brothers near the lake but had left earlier. The couple immediately rushed to the spot and found Jaganadhan’s body floating in the water.
