Rajasthan: A couple and their two children were found dead in a water tank near their house at Undu in Rajasthan’s Barmer district on Tuesday. The bodies of the couple, who were in their 30s and their two sons, aged eight and nine were found floating in the tank.

The man has been identified as Shivlal (35), his wife Kavita (32), and their sons Ramdev (8), Bajrang (9). As per preliminary investigation, financial crisis, mental stress, and family disputes may have forced the family to die by suicide.

All four bodies have been sent for postmortem and an investigation is underway to find the exact cause of the deaths.

On the day of the incident, the man’s parents were away and his brother reportedly tried to contact him. On receiving no response, the brother asked a labourer working at his place to visit the house. When the labourer reached there, he could not find anyone. The neighbours spotted the slippers near the water tank and discovered the body floating inside.

In another incident, a Pakistani couple likely died of thirst while trying to cross the desert and enter India near the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan. According to a NDTV report, the bodies were discovered around 11 kilometres from the International Border in Jaisalmer district on Saturday. A local shepherd alerted the Border Security Force (BSF), which then informed the police. Identification documents found on the deceased revealed that the two were from Sindh province in Pakistan.
