Rajasthan: Four Women Kill Infant Nephew In Ritual Practice Driven By Desperation To Get Married In Jodhpur

In a horrifying event in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, four women allegedly killed their 16-day-old nephew by trampling him, believing this would help them finally get married. Authorities say the act appears to resemble a ritualistic killing.

A viral video shows one woman holding the baby in her lap while chanting, with several other women around her chanting as well something officials say may have been an invocation to Bheru, a local folk deity.

The baby’s father said the women involved were his sisters-in-law. He explained that they had been eager to marry and thought that killing his child would bring them marriage proposals.

"I want the murderers to get the harshest punishment. Such videos are being made so they can escape the law," he said.

Police officials reported that the case remains under investigation.
