‘Warning Over’: Rajasthan Govt Orders New School Building At Rampura; CJP Vows To Continue ‘School Thik Karo’ Campaign

Amid Cockroach Janta Party’s “School Thik Karo” campaign, the Rajasthan government has announced the construction of a new school in Rampura. The move comes two days after members of the CJP were allegedly attacked by locals for visiting the dilapidated government school at Rampura Kanwarpura village in Jaipur’s Bagru Assembly constituency.

As the youth-led party continued to press their demands against the faulty infrastructure of government schools across the country, the Rjasthan government said that the construction work for the school will begin from September 1.

‘Warning is over’: Ashutosh Ranka

Reacting to the development, CJP co-founder and spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the party’s immediate demand over the Rampura school had been addressed, but its campaign on the condition of government schools would continue.

“We had not gone there to seek votes. We had gone to talk about getting the school fixed. Now that the government has approved the start of work from September 1, that issue, including our 48-hour warning, is over,” Ranka said.

However, Ranka asked for reasons for why the work has not been started earlier and criticised the attack against the CJP leaders. “If the government is genuinely concerned about the future of children, get the schools repaired. We are not here to fight, but we will neither retreat nor be intimidated,” he said.

Ranka said the decision on the Rampura school revealed the impact of the CJP campaign and asked party workers to continue visiting government schools and hold peaceful demonstrations wherever necessary.

What is the funding?

On August 13, a fund of Rs 12 lakh was issued by the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT). Another Rs 6 lakh has been sanctioned from the MLA fund. The total fund now stands at Rs 18 lakh.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal’s office said that the construction comes as a part of the three-year plan involving an estimated expenditure of Rs 12,500 crore that has been prepared to transform government schools into safe, well-equipped, modern, inclusive and technology-enabled learning centres.

Meanwhile, Ranka criticised the Rajasthan government and asked it to show how many schools had been repaired in the past six months and identify those proposed to be taken up over the next year.
