Rajasthan Weather: Rajasthan is currently caught in the grip of an intensifying heatwave, as the mercury continues to rise across the state. While the start of the ‘Nautpa’ period—known for extreme summer heat—usually brings dry and sweltering conditions, this year took a surprising turn. Unexpected pre-monsoon showers lashed parts of the state just before the heat picked up. Cities like Jaipur woke up to waterlogged streets after overnight rainfall, offering brief relief before temperatures soared again.
Districts like Sriganganagar, Jodhpur, and Sikar were battered by strong winds, hailstorms, and heavy downpours. In Sriganganagar, a dust storm led to trees collapsing, trapping six people underneath. A fallen power pole even sparked a fire. Similar disruptions were reported in Jodhpur and Sikar due to hail and intense rainfall.

Storm and Rain Warnings for Six Districts
The Meteorological Department has issued wind and rain warnings for Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Karauli, where gusts may reach up to 50 km/h. At the same time, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh, and Sriganganagar are under an orange alert due to the expected combination of strong winds, thunderstorms, and scorching heat.
Heatwave Alerts Across 11 Districts
With temperatures soaring, an orange alert for severe heatwave conditions has been issued for Bhilwara, Tonk, Churu, and Jodhpur. A yellow alert indicating slightly milder heat conditions is in effect for Jalore, Nagaur, Pali, and Chittorgarh. The highest level, a red alert, has been sounded in Barmer, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer, where extreme heat is likely to continue with no relief from rain or wind. Temperatures in border regions may climb another 1–2 degrees C in the next 48 hours, potentially breaching the 48 degrees C mark.
