Chomu Violence: Police have detained some people after a dispute over the installation of a railing near a mosque escalated into violence, leaving six police personnel injured and forcing authorities to impose preventive measures.

The incident took place in Jaipur’s Chomu, around 3 am on Friday, when police intervened during a dispute over the installation of an iron railing outside a mosque between two communities. A section of the crowd allegedly pelted stones at the police, leaving several cops injured and the internet suspended in the area.

What Led To The Chaos: Chomu Violence Timeline

- According to police sources, quoted by The Stateman, the matter stemmed from the removal of stones from near the Mosque to improve the traffic flow in the area.

- On Thursday evening, members of a particular community held a meeting with the local police administration and decided to remove stones lying around the mosque.

- But a dispute erupted after some people allegedly began installing an iron railing outside the mosque to create a boundary.

- The dispute escalated into violence when police tried to intervene and stop the activity, resulting in an angry crowd pelting stones at police.

Messaging Service Suspended, Flagmarch To Restore Confidence

A heavy police force has been deployed in the area, with police personnel carrying out a flag march to reassure residents of peace. Additional Police Commissioner Rajiv Pachar, along with DCP West Hanuman Prasad, Additional DCP Rajesh Gupta, and other senior officers from Jaipur, arrived at the incident site to review the situation.

According to former Chomu MLA Ramlal Sharma, quoted by news agency IANS, the Situation was uncontrolled. Only WhatsApp services and bulk messaging services have been suspended as a precaution; internet services are available.

Police officials said that the search operation is underway to identify the offenders, and legal action will be taken against them.
