Rajkot Game Zone Fire: Two more Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) officials have been arrested for allegedly making changes in documents linked to the TRP game zone where a fire that broke out last month killed 27 people. With the arrest of these two people, 12 persons, including six government employees, have been arrested in connection with the May 25 incident.
According to Parthrajsinh Gohil, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime, those arrested on Saturday in connection with the May 25 incident at Rajkot city's TRP game zone include Rajesh Makwana and Jaideep Chaudhary, RMC's assistant town planning officer (TPO) and assistant engineer, respectively.
"They made certain changes in government documents related to the TRP game zone after the fire incident. They also forged documents," DCP Parthrajsinh Gohil was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. “So far we have arrested six government employees and six other persons in connection with the TRP game zone fire," Gohil further said.
The four government employees that were arrested earlier in connection with the case include Rajkot's Town Planning Officer M D Sagathia, assistant TPOs Mukesh Makwana and Gautam Joshi, and Rohit Vigora, former station officer of Kalavad Road fire station.
Ashoksinh Jadeja, a co-owner of the game zone, reportedly surrendered to the police on Thursday evening. Jadeja is among the six owners of the TRP game zone where the massive fire broke out on May 25. Out of the six owners, five of them have been so far and one died.
According to the police, a probe into the incident confirmed that one of the co-owners of the game zone, Prakash Hiran, who was named in the FIR and had been missing since the tragedy, died in the deadly fire as he was inside the facility when the fire broke out. It should be noted that a manager of the game zone has also been arrested in connection with the case.
