Ram Navami: The police across multiple states have geared up for the Ram Navami celebrations and processions. Security architecture has been tightened across states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal, among others, to prevent any untoward incident and ensure the peaceful celebrations throughout the nation.

Security tightend up in UP, Bihar

Uttar Pradesh is at high alert for the auspicious festival. District administrations have made elaborate arrangements. Meanwhile, DGP Prashant Kumar has given detailed directions for the traffic management in the state.

With an expectation of a spike in footfall in Ayodhya, the district administration has made traffic, parking, and crowd management arrangements. Apart from that, anti-sabotage checks will be in place at the front gate of all prominent religious places in the state.

The DPG has ordered enhanced deployment of male and female police personnel in the processions. Moreover, the senior police officers have also been asked to step out on the field in the sensitive areas.

In Bihar, the DJs have been completely banned for the celebrations. As per reports, in Rohtas alone, over 230 DJ setups have been seized by the administration.

Additionally, peace committee meetings are being held in districts and the social media monitoring is being conducted extensively to prevent any incident.

Security apparatus vigilant in West Bengal

In West Bengal, tension has flared up in the Gobardanga police station area of North 24 Parganas amid preparations for the Ram Navami procession. People alleged that miscreants set fire to the puja pandal and idols. Local puja organisers said that we kept watching till 2 o'clock in the night, then at four in the morning, we saw that someone had set the pandal on fire.

As per PTI, police have implemented precautionary measures throughout the state. The police have marked sensitive areas based on past incidents of violence and and deployments are being made accordingly.

Moreover, leaves of all police personnel have been cancelled till April 9 in the state. The police have taken the several precautionary measures, including regular patrolling, social networking sites monitoring, additional 5,000 police personnel deployment, CCTV surveillance, drone deployment for aerial surveillance, photos and recordings of processions.

Police preparedness in Maharashtra

The police are on high alert in Maharashtra also, especially in sensitive areas. The alertness has been increased given the violence in religious processions in the last two years.

Speaking about Ram Navami, a police official said that DGP Rashmi Shukla has reviewed the situation. He said, "All unit commanders of city police and district superintendents of police have been asked to keep the force on alert to maintain the law and order situation."

Additional deployment will be at places having a history of communal unrest. In several areas of Mumbai, like Andheri, Malad, and Kandivali, among others, where the procession passes through narrow lanes, strict arrangements have been made.

In Mumbai, over 13,500 cops have been deployed  to maintain law and order. The deployment comprises 11000 constables, 2500 officers, 51 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), and 20 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP).

The official said that the alert issued to the police will remain in effect till Hanuman Jayanti on April 12.

Security beefed up in Jharkhand

In Jharkhand, adequate deployment of cops has been done in "sensitive" districts such as Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Giridih and Hazaribag to ensure that the festival is celebrated peacefully on Sunday.

CCTV cameras, drones and security personnel equipped with video cameras are being deployed at key locations to monitor gatherings, the official said.

As part of the arrangements, police conducted mock drills in several districts on Friday and Saturday to oversee the preparedness of the police to tackle various situations.

In Ranchi alone,  200 magistrates and over 2,000 police personnel have been deployed. CCTV cameras have been installed at 650 locations, besides 10 drone cameras, would be monitoring the state capital.
