Mahendra Tiwari, Ayodhya: Anukalp Mishra, accused of stealing Ram Temple offerings, was planning to buy 20 bighas of land near his village with the money he stole from temple’s donation boxes. The deal for the land was finalised for around Rs 2 crore but during this period, the police arrested him.
Anukalp Mishra Was Planning To Buy A Scorpio
Anukalp Mishra was also looking to buy a Scorpio and had asked the showroom manager to arrange a booking soon. He had purchased a Swift Dzire just two months earlier.
The police obtained all this information during the interrogation of Anukalp Mishra’ father, Ravindra Mishra. Some immovable properties in Ambedkar Nagar were also discovered.
Anukalp Mishra, a native of Basawan village in Milkipur, had been living in Kaushalpuri in the city for about a year and a half, but he regularly visited his village. When the 84 Kosi Parikrama route began construction near his village, he expressed his desire to invest in land along the highway and approached people about purchasing land.
In April, when he held a Bhagwat Katha in the village, several property dealers came to meet him to sell land. Anukalp Mishra was looking to acquire 20 bighas of land in one location, which was why the process was taking time.
He had told a property dealer that no matter how much money was required, the land should be adjacent to the Parikrama Marg. Meanwhile, in June, the donation theft case was exposed leading to inquiries, first during the trust's internal investigation and then during the SIT investigation.
He was later sent to jail after an FIR was filed. Like Anukalp, other accused have also purchased property and vehicles using similar offerings.
Ram Temple Trust Meeting Today At 3 PM
Amid the Ram Temple donation theft row, an important meeting of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust will be held on Monday. The meeting is likely to decide on the resignations of Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Kumar Mishra. It will also review the findings of the interim SIT report on the donation counting dispute, along with the audit report for FY 2025-26 and other financial matters.
Most of the members of the trust are expected to attend the meeting to be held at the passenger convenience centre of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi complex from 3 pm. Some major decisions may be taken in this meeting. There are also talks of adding new officials to the trust.
