UP NIKAY CHUNAV: A new party has emerged in Azam Khan's bastion Rampur. Everyone was taken aback when the Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sana Khanum won the Rampur municipality seat. Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, who holds considerable sway over the Rampur seat, suffered a major setback in the Rampur Municipality elections.
AAP defeated BJP to take this municipality's seat. Beyond expectations, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sana Khanum won this seat by defeating BJP candidate Masarat Mujeeb and SP candidate Fatma Jabin. Sana Khanam won the post of Municipality President of Rampur.

Just a day before the nomination, Congress leader Mamoon Shah Khan had married Sana Khanum and the very next day Aam Aadmi Party declared Sana Khanum as its candidate.

Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sana Khanum gained entry into the game by winning the Rampur municipality seat. 43,115 people voted for her. Masarat Mujeeb, a BJP candidate, came in second with 32,157 votes. Fatma Jabi, the outgoing president and SP candidate, received 16,269 votes to finish third.
