Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim has been granted parole once again ahead of the Delhi elections. He has been given a 30-day parole. According to Jagran.com, after receiving parole, Gurmeet Singh reached his Dera in Haryana’s Sirsa.

On Tuesday, Ram Rahim was seen leaving the Sunaria Jail in Rohtak with a convoy of seven vehicles and reached the Dera in Sirsa at 8:40 AM. This is his first visit to the Sirsa Dera since being convicted of the rape of two female disciples.

Ram Rahim was also granted parole last October. At that time, he was allowed to visit the Barnawa Ashram in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, with a 20-day conditional release. The Haryana Election Commission had approved his emergency parole request. This is the 12th instance of Ram Rahim's coming out of jail since 2017.

Ram Rahim is serving a 20-year sentence for the sexual assault of two of his disciples, a conviction handed down in 2017. This parole comes just days before the elections on February 5 in Delhi.

In May 2024, the High Court acquitted the Dera chief and four other individuals– Avtar Singh, Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh and Sabdil Singh— in connection with the 2002 murder of Ranjit Singh, the former manager of a religious sect. The court cited "flawed and unreliable" investigations as the primary reason for the acquittal. Singh’s killing was believed to be connected to his alleged involvement in distributing a letter that exposed sexual abuse within the sect, detailing allegations of exploitation of female followers.
