Bengaluru News: A rapido driver allegedly threatened to stab a passenger after an altercation erupted when the passenger asked him to turn on the air conditioner of the car. The incident took place on a main road in Bengaluru. In a distressing reddit post, the passenger explained about the incident. He claimed that when he insisted that the AC was turned on, the driver then demanded the passenger to cancel the ride and exit the vehicle.
“Had an extremely scary episode and please note, I speak fluent Kannada. Started as an argument over AC - I wanted it on, driver REFUSED to turn it on, simply because his mood was bad I think. In my later call with Rapido, they also confirmed there was no reason for him to refuse,” the man wrote in his reddit post.
Upon the passenger's refusal, the driver allegedly took out his sharp keychain, threatening to stab him. The driver backed off after the passenger warned him that he would approach the nearby traffic police. The passenger was rescued by a nearby auto driver, who drove the man to his designated place.

“He then asked me to cancel the ride, which I refused, saying you wanted me to get out so you take accountability and cancel. To this he turned his key chain to what looked a mini sharp knife and came towards me, holding the key chain to my chest. In that moment I was shocked and scared and immediately told him that let's go to a cop and pointed at a traffic cop across the road. In that moment he backed off a bit and I started to attempt crossing the road to go to the cop. I could hear him make a call asking for reinforcements!! To come and beat me/scare me, god knows! An auto driver came to my rescue and I hopped in and proceeded to my destination,” the man wrote.
The incident took a broader term, when the Rapido driver allegedly tried to call and send spam OTPs to the man multiple times. After filling a police complaint, Rapido suspended the driver.
“15 mins later I start getting OTP bombed again. My question is, beyond 'suspension' how is Rapido going to safeguard me from this harassment from the driver? If they had not revealed my number to a maniac like him, this would have never happened,” the man said.
