Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi: A special NIA court at Patiala House Court has extended the judicial custody of the accused in the Delhi Red Fort blast case till July 6. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) produced the accused, Aamir Rashid Mir, Jasir Bilal Wani, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather, Dr Shaheen Saeed, Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay, Soyab, Dr Bilal Naseer Malla, and Yasir Ahmad Dar before the court on Thursday.

Custody Of Accused Extended Till July 6

Special Judge (NIA) Prashant Sharma extended their judicial custody after the expiry of the previous remand period. Earlier on May 14, the NIA had filed its first chargesheet in the case, which was listed for cognisance on June 4. In the approximately 7,500-page chargesheet, 10 accused individuals have been named.

No Proceedings Against Umar

The chargesheet also names Umar Un Nabi as the main conspirator. However, since he is deceased, the NIA has proposed closure of proceedings against him. The NIA has claimed that all the accused were linked to the banned terrorist organization Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, which was declared a terrorist outfit by the Government of India in 2018. The agency further stated that the group is an affiliate of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

The NIA also alleged a larger "jihadi conspiracy" involving radicalised individuals, including medical professionals, allegedly inspired by AQIS/AGuH ideology. Investigators claimed the accused reorganised the outfit as "AGuH Interim" during a secret meeting in Srinagar in 2022.

A car blast near the Red Fort on November 10, 2025, was a high-intensity explosion caused by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED). The blast killed 11 people, injured several others, and caused significant damage to nearby properties.

The investigating agency has booked the accused under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
