Bengaluru Renukaswamy Murder Update: In a letter addressed to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, Vijayalakshmi, the wife of Kannada film star Darshan Thoogudeepa, has sought to clarify the actor's marital status following an incorrect statement regarding Darshan and Pavithra Gowda's relation made by Police commissioner in a Press conference.

Vijayalakshmi stated that she is Darshan's only legally wedded wife, contrary to reports that have identified Pavithra Gowda as his spouse. She asserted that Gowda, who has been arrested along with Darshan in connection with the murder of a fan, is merely a friend of the actor.

In her letter, Vijayalakshmi urged the police commissioner to not mention Pavithra Gowda as Darshan's wife in official records, citing future problems for herself and her son Vineesh and also urged the police to accurately record Gowda's status, as she is married to Sanjay Singh and has a daughter with him. Vijayalakshmi expressed confidence in the judicial process, stating that she has "full faith in the judiciary" and believes "the law will take its course."

The letter comes in response to what Vijayalakshmi described as an incorrect statement made by the Police Commissioner during a press conference, identifying Pavithra Gowda as Darshan's wife. This error, she said, was subsequently repeated by the Karnataka Home Minister and national media.

Darshan, Gowda and 15 others have been arrested for the alleged kidnapping, torture and murder of Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old fan from Chitradurga. The probe revealed that Renukaswamy had sent derogatory messages to Gowda on social media.

Darshan is currently serving a judicial custody term in a Bengaluru prison, which is set to end on Thursday, July 4. Vijayalakshmi has emphasised that she is Darshan's only legally recognised wife and she hopes this fact will be accurately reflected in the official police records.
