West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Tuesday demanded an immediate report from CM Mamata Banerjee's government over the allegations made by the RG Kar rape and murder accused Sanjay Roy against the senior police officials. The development followed the beginning of trial in the case on Monday in a Kolkata court. During the hearing in the case, prime accused Sanjoy Roy claimed that he was being framed by senior police officers, including former Kolkata Commissioner of Police Vineet Goyal.
The in-camera proceedings were being held at the court of additional district and sessions judge Anirban Das. The father of RG Kar victim, a 31-year-old doctor, was also present as a witness, the New Indian Express reported.

"They did not let me speak even today. I've done nothing and have been framed," Roy told reporters while being taken away.
"Senior officers are involved in this. The government is backing them. They have been threatening me. I am giving you the names. They are Vineet Goel and DC Special...They have conspired to frame me into this," Roy said.
Following his allegations, the Raj Bhavan asked for a report from the West Bengal government on the issue, its media cell posted on X.
"In the light of disturbing news carried by the media on 12.11.2024 in connection with the R. G. Kar alleged rape and murder case, where the key accused Sanjay Roy, after the proceedings in the Sealdah Court on 11.11.2024, has reportedly alleged that 'he was framed by senior police officers, including former Kolkata police commissioner Vineet Goyal’, HG has urged the State Government to look into the matter and inform him the factual position and the State Government’s stand on the allegations at the earliest," the Raj Bhavan stated.
