Riya Barde 2.0: A Pakistani national, his wife, and two others have been arrested after they were allegedly found to be living illegally in Bengaluru with fake identities for the past six years, the police said on Monday. The preliminary probe into the matter has revealed that the Pakistani man's wife hails from Bangladesh and the couple used to live in Dhaka's where they got married, as per news agency PTI.
The couple allegedly arrived in Delhi in 2014 and later relocated to Bengaluru in 2018, PTI said in its report. The two other accused besides the duo are reportedly the man's in-laws. As per the report, they were detained following a raid in Jigani, which falls on the outskirts of Bengaluru, on Sunday.
"Our Jigani Inspector investigated a matter and registered a case. Four people of a family were residing here illegally with the help of fraudulent documents. Now, a case has been registered and those four people are being interrogated. Based on the outcome of the interrogation, we will take further action," a senior police officer was quoted as saying by PTI.
They had been staying at a rented accomodation in the area for the past six years, the officer added. The Pakistani man is reportedly being quizzed by the police about his network and actvities. "They were supplying materials to a garage but that needs to be investigated," the official said. Speaking on the arrests, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara claimed that the accused even managed to acquire a fake Indian passport.
"How did they come? Why did they all come ? All these will be investigated. If they had been in India for the past 10 years... if this is true why the Intelligence Agencies could not track them? They even went up to the extent of getting a (Indian) passport... in that case (obtaining) Aadhaar is nothing for them. They changed their names and were running a restaurant also," he was quoted as saying by PTI.
BANGLADESHI PORN STAR RIYA BARDE ARREST
The arrests in Bengaluru came on the heels of Bangladeshi porn star Riya Barde aka Arohi Barde aka Banna Sheikh's arrest in Maharashtra. She was arrested from Thane district for allegedly residing in India on the basis of bogus documents, according to officials. As per news reports, the police were also searching for her mother, sister, brother, and father in the case.
