Haryana Police on Sunday summoned Kuber Group director Vikas Malu as it began a probe into the high-speed collision between a Rolls Royce car and an oil tanker in Nuh. The industrialist has been called after police found evidence indicating that his luxury car rear-ended the fuel tanker. The police on Saturday formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the incident.

While the police is yet to ascertain who was behind the wheels of the luxury car when the accident took place, Nuh Police has registered a case against the driver of the Rolls Royce. Narender Bijarniya, Nuh superintendent of police, said all the occupants were undergoing treatment and were declared unfit to record the statements.

Soon after the probe was ordered, the Kuber Group director's advocate alleged that the truck driver was at fault. Malu was one of the occupants of the luxury car during the accident, which his lawyer claimed happened because the truck driver took an illegal U-turn. "The truck driver is at fault for the accident because he took an illegal U-turn which ultimately caused the collision," news agency ANI quoted Vikas Malu's advocate Rajesh Kumar Thakur.

Thakur further said Malu was in the Rolls Royce car along with two others, but the Kuber Group director was not driving it. They were on their way to Jaipur when the Rolls Royce rammed into the oil tanker.

Malu's advocate further denied reports of the car running at a speed of 200 km per hour. He said, "No it was not over 100-120 km/hour. Which was the prescribed limit of speed there."

The Kuber Group director and the others had taken the car for a test drive. The Rolls Royce was being driven by a driver who was expert at driving luxury cars, he said. "So prior to purchasing that car, Vikas Malu took a test drive. Vikas Malu was sitting there in the car and watching the performance of the car," Thakur said.

Malu had been seriously injured in the collision which took place on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway near Nuh in Haryana, he said.

As many as two people were killed and four injured in the accident that took place between the truck and the car on August 22.
