Roorkee News: A woman lost her life in a road accident on Sunday morning in Roorkee's Kotwali area after being struck by an SUV. The incident occurred near Jadugar Road while she was on her way to work.

The victim, identified as Kirti from Khanjarpur, was walking with an umbrella when a white SUV turning right from the opposite direction hit her. CCTV footage from the scene shows the vehicle stopping immediately after the collision, but Kirti got trapped under the front wheel.

Locals and the driver quickly attempted to rescue her, but she died on the spot due to her injuries.

Police reached the scene shortly after and have launched an investigation. Officials said they are reviewing the CCTV footage to trace the vehicle and understand the sequence of events. The area has been cordoned off as part of the inquiry.

In separate news, four members of a family died in a tragic road accident on National Highway 75 near the Kunigal bypass on Sunday night. The victims, identified as Seebe Gowda, his wife Shobha, and their children Dumbishree and Bhanukiran Gowda, were residents of Mattikere village in Magadi taluk.

The family was travelling to drop Bhanukiran, a Class 8 student, at his hostel near Bidanagere when a speeding canter truck coming from the wrong direction on a one-way stretch rammed into their car. The impact was so severe that all four died on the spot. The car was completely destroyed in the crash.

Earlier in the evening, they had dropped their elder daughter, Varnashree, at her Bengaluru college. Seebe Gowda was driving at the time of the accident.

Local residents rushed to help and informed the police. A case has been registered at Kunigal Police Station, and investigation is ongoing.
