TMC Crisis: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is facing its deepest internal crisis following the humiliating defeat in the West Bengal Assembly election. At least 60 of the total 80 MLAs have rebelled against the party chief Mamata Banerjee, claiming to be the "real Trinamool". The rebellion continued even in New Delhi as 20 MPs have reportedly decided to support the NDA under the leadership of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. The list includes names of some of the celebrities who were brought to the politics by Mamata Banerjee and were given the Lok Sabha ticket.

Saayoni Ghosh

The actress joined the Trinamool in 2021 and became one of the prominent campaigners for the party within a few months. She contested the 2024 Lok Sabha poll from Jadavpur, where she registered a massive victory by over 200,000 votes. Her decision to support the rebels has caused a significant upheaval among Trinamool and Mamata Banerjee's supporters.

Yusuf Pathan

The former cricketer was fielded against the Congress heavyweight Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in Baharampur. While he was called an "outsider" by the rivals, Pathan managed to defeat the Congress veteran by more than 80,000 votes. However, he has also decided to distance himself from Banerjee as she faces toughest times in the active politics.
