Saif Ali Khan Attack: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Monday that the investigation into the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is making significant progress. This comes despite reports indicating a mismatch between the fingerprints of the arrested suspect and those found at Khan's residence.
Fadnavis stated, "The investigation into Saif Ali Khan’s attack is advancing well. The Mumbai Police are conducting a thorough probe." He also added that he would instruct the Mumbai Police Commissioner to update the media within the next couple of days.
The suspect, Mohammed Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national who entered India illegally, was living under the alias Vijay Das. Reports suggest that his fingerprints did not match those collected from Khan's home in Bandra.
In a related development, the Mumbai Police executed a search operation in Nadia district, West Bengal, on Monday. This resulted in the arrest of a woman named Khukhumoni Jahangir Sheikh, who is believed to be connected to the case. Police sources indicate that the SIM card used by Shehzad was registered in her name. She is expected to be brought to Mumbai on transit remand for further questioning.

The incident took place in the early hours of January 16 when Khan was stabbed six times at his residence. He was quickly taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent spinal and plastic surgery. The actor was discharged on January 21 and is now in recovery.
In a separate matter, when questioned about the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand, which has become the first state to do so since Independence, Chief Minister Fadnavis noted that a committee to study the issue had not yet been formed in Maharashtra. He stated, “I can only comment once the committee is formed.”
