Salman Khan Firing:  In the turn of events in the alleged suicide of Anuj Thapan, one of the accused in the Salman Khan house firing case, his brother on Wednesday claimed that he was murdered by the police. Abhishek Thapan, who lives in Sukhchain village in Abohar, Punjab, said that his brother, who worked as a truck driver, wasn't the type of person to take his own life. This came hours after Mumbai Police said that Anuj hanged himself in the lock-up toilet using a bedsheet.

Following his alleged suicide attempt, he was taken to the state-run GT hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Thapan was charged with aiding the shooters of the firing incident with the procurement of guns and bullets.

"Anuj was taken by Mumbai Police from Sangrur 6-7 days ago. Today, we received a call that Anuj had committed suicide. He was not the kind who could have committed suicide. He was murdered by police. We want justice. He worked as a truck helper," the accused's brother Abhishek Thapan, a resident of Sukhchain village in Punjab's Abohar, said.

Anuj Thapan, also known as Anujkumar Omprakash Thapan, was arrested from Sangrur, Punjab, on April 26 and was put in a crime branch lockup cell at the Mumbai police headquarters.

Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartments Residence Targeted On April 14

Two bike-borne shooters had fired four rounds of shots outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartment in Bandra on April 14. The shooting which sent shockwaves across the country, was later claimed by the younger brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi -- Anmol Bishnoi. He allegedly claimed responsibility for the incident in a Facebook post.
