Bank Holiday Today: Several people are curious to know whether banks are closed on Saturday, April 19, or not, as the third Saturday of the month is sandwiched between festivals Good Friday and Easter. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) states that banks usually are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. The banks will not remain closed on April 19, as it is the third Saturday of the month.

While the banks will not remain closed on April 19, they will be shut down on the next Saturday, April 26, the fourth Saturday of the month. The RBI calendar suggested that there are a total of 13 designated bank holidays in the month of April. The list of holidays includes major festivals, birth anniversaries of prominent personalities, and second and fourth holidays.

List Of Bank Holidays In April:

April 1: Banks close their yearly accounts.

April 5: Babu Jagjivan Ram’s Birthday (Only in Hyderabad - Telangana)

April 7: Shad Suk Mynsiem (Only in Shillong)

April 10: Mahavir Janmakalyanak/Mahavir Jayanti

April 14: Ambedkar Jayanti, along with regional New Year celebrations such as Vishu, Bihu, Tamil New Year.

April 15: Bengali New Year, Himachal Day, Bohag Bihu – Banks closed in Assam, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh.

April 16: Bohag Bihu (Only in Assam)

April 18: Good Friday – Banks closed in Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh and Srinagar.

April 20: Easter Sunday – Nationwide Sunday holiday.

April 21: Garia Puja – (Only in Tripura).

April 29: Bhagwan Shri Parshuram Jayanti

April 30 (Wednesday): Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya 

However, the guideline suggests that ATMs, online banking, and bank apps for daily transactions will remain open for the customers on these days too. The customers with emergency requirements can access these facilities for their use.
