The Bhide Bridge over the Mutha River, which connects the Deccan Gymkhana area to Shaniwar Peth, will remain closed for one and a half months, till June 6th, to facilitate the construction of a proposed foot overbridge connecting the Peth area with the Metro station.

“The Bhide bridge will be closed from the wee hours of April 20 to June 6. This is being done to complete the ongoing construction of footover bridge from Narayan Peth to Deccan Gymkhana Metro station,” said a statement issued by the Pune Metro rail.

With both Pune Metro rail routes now operational, the Pune Metro authorities are focusing on developing supporting infrastructure. As part of this effort, two foot overbridges are being constructed to provide seamless connectivity for residents of Shaniwar Peth, Narayan Peth, and Laxmi Road to the Metro stations located across the Mutha River.

According to Pune Metro officials, the foot overbridge connecting Shaniwar Peth to the Bal Gandharva Metro Station is nearly complete and will be opened to the public soon. Meanwhile, the second bridge, linking Narayan Peth to Deccan Gymkhana, will be built above the Bhide Bridge, with construction expected to be completed within the next two months.

Alternative Routs to Bhide Bridge 

The river side road will remain open for vehicle traffic, both pedestrians and motorists will not be able to use the Bhide Bridge for the next few weeks. Authorities have urged citizens to use alternative routes such as the  Z-Bridge, Lakdi Pul, and the Bal Gandharva Bridge to cross the Mutha River till June 6.
